[ Terms ]
Terms of tuition.
The agreement between us when your child has lessons. Clear and fair, with no long contract.
In short: the first lesson is paid on its own, then lessons are billed monthly on the 1st. You can stop any time with one month’s notice.
About these terms
These terms cover lessons and courses with Maths with Khalid, run by Khalid, a self-employed maths tutor based in Whetstone, London N20. By booking a first lesson, you agree to them.
Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Any questions about these terms? WhatsApp or call 07938 156189, or email info@mathswithkhalid.com.
Lessons
- One-to-one: online, or in person at your home or a local venue.
- Online group classes: for Years 7–11, with no more than eight students, twice a week during school term time. There are no classes in half-terms and school holidays.
- Holiday courses: short in-person courses at local venues, with the details given for each course.
Prices
- One-to-one: £35 a lesson online, or £45 in person.
- Online group classes: £95 a month.
- Holiday courses and home-ed groups: priced individually.
If prices change, I’ll give you at least one month’s notice.
Payment
The first lesson is paid on its own, before it takes place. After that, lessons are paid monthly in advance on the 1st of each month, by bank transfer.
- One-to-one is billed at four lessons a month for weekly lessons (£140 online) or two for fortnightly (£70 online). In months with a fifth week, that week is a break.
- Group classes are £95 every month of the year, including holidays. This spreads the term-time classes evenly, which works out at £15 a class.
If a payment is more than seven days late, I may pause lessons until it’s paid.
Stopping lessons
There’s no long contract. You can stop at any time with one month’s notice: tell me before the 1st, and that month is your last.
I can also end lessons with one month’s notice. If I do, I’ll refund any lessons you’ve paid for and not had.
Missed and cancelled lessons
- Group classes: if your child misses a class, they’ll get the notes and worksheets to catch up. Missed classes aren’t refunded.
- One-to-one: with at least 24 hours’ notice, I’ll reschedule if there’s a free slot. With less notice, the lesson is charged.
- If I cancel, you’ll be offered a reschedule or a refund for that lesson.
Holiday courses
A place is confirmed once it’s paid. You’ll get a full refund if you cancel up to seven days before the course starts. After that, the place can be moved to another child or a later course. If I cancel a course, you’ll get a full refund.
Online lessons
- Your child needs a laptop or tablet with a camera, a quiet space, and pen and paper.
- Cameras stay on in group classes, so everyone can take part.
- Please make sure a parent or carer is at home during online lessons.
- Lessons aren’t recorded.
If a student is repeatedly disruptive in a group class, I’ll talk to you first. If it continues, I may move them to one-to-one or end their place, refunding any classes paid for and not had.
In-person lessons
For lessons at your home, a parent or responsible adult must be in the home for the whole lesson.
Safeguarding
I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and I’m happy to show it. If I ever have a concern about a child’s safety, I’ll act on it in line with UK safeguarding guidance, which may mean sharing information with the right people.
Results
I’ll always do my best for your child, but I can’t guarantee particular grades or exam results.
